AZIENDA AGRICOLA
Langhe wines and a warm welcome in Diano D'Alba
Located in Diano d'Alba, Azienda Agricola Cascina Rossa is a small family-run business with deep roots in the heart of the Langhe of Barolo, where the area's great vines have found a special home.
Here, the heritage of wine is handed down from generation to generation. The journey begins in the hills, in the vineyard, whose cultivation respects the changing seasons and rigorously safeguards the environment and the landscape. It continues in the cellar, where the skilful processing of the grapes gives wine its great character, or rather many wines, each in the image and likeness of the land and the vine from which it originates. And it ends on the table, where wine meets traditional and modern cuisine in total satisfaction.
OUR WINES
The combination of experience and innovative ideas results in high-quality wines, in a context of careful vineyard management and great respect for the environment.
HISTORY AND FAMILY
For six generations, Azienda Agricola Cascina Rossa has been dedicated to the cultivation of vines and the production of wines, handing down from one generation to the next its commitment to tradition, respect for nature and the cycles of the land. This centuries-old experience has allowed them to recognise and exploit the best exposed hillsides and to be able to find the most suitable land for each vine.
Today it is brothers, Marco and Beppe Veglio, and Marco's daughter Lucia who carry on this tradition. They follow the entire cycle of wine production, from vineyard management to winemaking and marketing.
The combination of experience and innovative ideas results in high-quality wines, in a context of careful vineyard management and great respect for the environment. On the hills surrounding Cascina Rossa and Diano d'Alba grow the Dolcetto vineyards for the Diano d'Alba selections. In Cascina Tezzo in Serralunga d'Alba, Nebbiolo and Moscato grapes are cultivated, while in Montelupo Albese, Barbera and Chardonnay are grown
PRODUCTION PHILOSOPHY
"Behind every great wine is always the dedicated work of individuals in the vineyards"
THE VINEYARDS
Our vineyards are located on the hills surrounding Azienda Agricola Cascina Rossa's headquarters in Diano d'AIba. Here is where we grow grapes for the Diano d'AIba D.O.C.G. denomination and its Sorì (from the Piedmontese, particularly its sunny areas); in Serralunga d'Alba, we have Nebbiolo for Barolo and Moscato d'Asti, while in Montelupo Albese, we grow Barbera and Chardonnay.
We consider the vine a special plant, special in all its characteristics. It likes a balance between soils without over-nourishment and excessive humidity, and it prefers thoughtful cultivation, rather than excess. It defends itself against the winter cold and the lack of water availability in certain summer months as all of this limits its productive and vital functions.
This is why our winegrowers have a fundamental task: they must know their vineyards and their grapes in order to be able to intervene at the right time. Their job is to guide, correct or help. But every year, there is a variable, climate, which conditions the vegetation and characterises the different production years.
Different soil types, suitability and exposure are fundamental characteristics that vary from one plot to another and require different types of work. Every single work has to be done adapting to the soil and climatic conditions.
If you follow nature and respect it,
you can create masterpieces.
VINE AND WINE MUSEUM
The "Museum of the Vine and Wine" that we have created, by restoring the barn of the farmhouse, opens to visitors of our Cascina Rossa Agricultural Company a fascinating window into the past that has been employed on these hills for over a century, in Diano d'Alba.
We offer each visitor a journey through the history and culture of wine. Old photographs, work equipment, agricultural means of transport, remind us of the transition from a company with mixed management to specialized monoculture. We have made our hospitality our philosophy.
VISIT THE WINERY
We offer guided tours of our winery and museum, with tasting sessions dedicated to our wines and hazelnuts.
Book a visit by calling our headquarters, emailing us or filling out our online form.
